Norton Puffin Tours: Machias Seal Island People always ask me where I get those Puffin photos. You won't get them on most cruises that advertise "Puffin Watch Cruises." If you are interested in getting up close and personal with Puffins, there is really only one way to do it in New England. You have to go to Machias Seal Island, and the John Norton is the only one with landing permits that can put you right into the blinds. It's a long drive to Jonesport, Maine, and about two-hour cruise to the island (for about 45 minutes in a blind), but it is well worth it. |

Aside from the fact that this is one of the most beautiful, pristine settings in New England, it is one of the best places to photograph moose and deer. There are also Black Bear, Hawks, Osprey, Beavers, and other critters (including armies of mosquitoes and black flies in June and July). This is the official site for the park with loads of helpful information on camping in and touring the park. |

The RDA Fund was created in memory of Ryan Apostolakes. The donations of many supporters are used to provide defibrillators and other safety equipment to the community and to assist those parents from putting their children at risk by settling for sub-standard day care due to financial hardships. In 2004, Ryan's Run, a 5K race in Chelmsford raised additional finds for this worthy cause. (Photos appear in the Events section of this site.)
